Faith Not Fear
I woke up full of anxiety at 1 am a couple of nights ago. I was stressed over my job situation in the midst of this pandemic. Financially, I’m able to go for about 3 months without a full-time job. However, my fear was around losing my medical insurance. What would happen if I lost my job and my insurance and then got sick? Fear was keeping me awake. But, we are supposed to live by faith, not fear.
17 “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:17
Prayer
I started praying, asking God to help my unbelief. I actually put it that way because that is what I was experiencing at that time. Unbelief. God said He would provide, so why was I stressing? In my fear, I asked for strength and peace. I said that I knew He would provide, whether I got through this with a job and insurance or not.
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
God Will Provide
I still had the questions, but I was put at ease because I know that God has the answers. A child trusts her parents when things go awry. She doesn’t stress over them because she knows that her parents will handle it. It’s the same thing with God. We shouldn’t stress over our problems because we know He will handle it. The outcome may not be what we wish, but we will get through it.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:22
Just Believe
As I write and read the Bible, the story of the ruler whose daughter was dying came up. She passed away before Jesus got to her. However, Jesus told the father to not fear, “just believe”. I feel that this is meant for me and YOU also. Do not fear, just believe.
Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”
Mark 5:36
Your circumstance may have you in doubt about your future at the present. If that is you, remember that we should have faith over fear. It’s human nature who be afraid, but as a child of God, do not let that fear rule you. Trust in your Father and pray. Have faith in His word and believe.
