Both Jesus and Paul called the world perverse. All you have to do is turn on the news (or watch any reality show) to see just how true that is.
As a believer in Christ, we must rise above what is happening around us, not get swept up in it. When negative things happen, non-believers will look at how we react to it. If we behave negatively, they will wonder what Jesus has done in our lives and use it as a reason to not follow Him. Also, if we do react in a way that doesn’t Glorify God, we must look at our own hearts and seek wisdom and guidance from the Lord.
Philippians 2:14-16 (NKJV)
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
