Worry is too much to bear.
Do you tend to overthink and worry about everything? I do it quite often. I’ve written about it a few times. The stress and anxiety pile on like a physical weight. Worry is too much to bear. It can cause you to become physically ill. God did not intend for us to carry this weight ourselves.
22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:22 (NKJV)
Yes, but how?
Easier said than done though, right? Sometimes, that’s how I feel. I’ll pray earnestly that I can’t carry this load and ask God to relieve me of it. But, sometimes it still seems to remain. What can we do? We can meditate on God’s Word. Not just read some passages. Really focus, meditate, write it down, pray about it, and talk it over with God.
25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.
Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV)
Focus on God’s promises.
God is our provider and protector. We needn’t stress over the little things. Instead, focus on what you can do to resolve your situation and trust that God will give you the mindset and resources to handle it. Sometimes, He will completely remove that burden. Quite often, He’s shown me that it’s not my burden to contend with at all. We tend to carry weight in our hearts and minds that is unnecessary. But, if you believe in God’s words, we shouldn’t stress ourselves.
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:25 (NKJV)
Think of your parents or your children.
Think of your parents. If your parents weren’t the best or weren’t with you, then are you are a parent? Do you know parents that take good care of their children? Think of the best parents possible. God is infinitely a better parent than they are.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:9-10 (NKJV)
Keep asking!
We won’t always get what we ask for. If it’s not God’s will for you, you may have to seek a different route. That job you wanted may not be the right path. If you get it anyway, you may find that out the hard way. However, continue asking and continue to seek God’s will. It will be revealed to you. Also, there is something that you may have to do first. God may want you to grow before you move on.
There was a prayer that I’ve been praying for the past two years. I thought it was hopeless and was falling into a deep depression. However, during this time, I felt that God wanted me to lead a Bible study. I was incredibly nervous. I can host a team to help with tasks, but hosting a Bible study makes me anxious. But, I trusted God and knew that he would provide the resources. The Bible study turned out great. It really helped me and several others. Near the end of the study, my prayers were answered. Keep asking and seeking His will in the process.
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)
Let it go.
Worry is too much to bear. However, you aren’t supposed to bear it. Give it to God and seek His will. Meditate on scripture and keep it in your heart.
Have a wonderful week!
Before you go…
Are you struggling with the belief that God actually loves you? Do you struggle to believe that He wants a real relationship with you? I struggled with this for years. Through studying the scripture, I grew to understand God’s love, grace, and mercy. I created a 30-day book that I believe will help you, too.
